President Ram Chandra Poudel says Festivals help further strengthen national unity

Kathmandu: People across the globe including Nepali people are celebrating Christmas Day today commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ was born on December 25 in Bethlehem, about 2,024 years ago.

Born of the Virgin Merriam, Jesus Christ has given three main states of happiness – liberation, love, and peace.

Meanwhile, extending best wishes to Christian religious people for their happiness, peace and good health on the occasion of ‘Christmas Day’, President Ramchandra Paudel expressed confidence that such festivals would further strengthen and consolidate national unity.

He said that festivals are instrumental in promoting diverse cultural identities and enhance mutual goodwill, tolerance and solidarity among the communities having different religious faiths.

President Paudel wished that the festival of Christians would inspire all to deepen the spirit of mutual trust, love and unity.

Similarly, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav said the festivals would help maintain mutual unity and understanding by reflecting the country’s religious and cultural diversities.

In his greetings message on the occasion of ‘Christmas Day 2024, today, Vice President Yadav extended best wishes to all Christian religious people for their peace, happiness and prosperity.

Vice President Yadav said that the festivals would inspire all to build a prosperous and advanced society and country based on the values of unity, tolerance and humanity.

The Vice President expressed the belief that Christmas would further contribute to strengthening mutual harmony, reunion, fraternity and friendship.

He also wished that Christmas Day may further motivate all to remain active for the country’s prosperity, development, good governance and sustainable peace.

Christmas Day is celebrated every year on December 25 as a religious and cultural festival to mark the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ.

On the occasion, various programmes are being organized in different parts of the country, including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Pokhara.
