Agro products sales centre at Manthali
Manthali (Ramechhap): An agro-product sales centre has been brought into operation at the district headquarters, Manthali. Only locally produced items will be sold at the centre.
The centre was opened by Manthali municipality mayor Lava Shrestha amidst a programme on Monday.
Turmeric, ginger, garlic, banana, beans, citrus fruits like orange and lemon, and seasonal vegetables grown by the small farmers would be sold at the facility, according to Bhanu Bhakta Shrestha, secretary of the District Agriculture Cooperatives Association.
The centre is introduced by the Tamakoshi Agro Academy and Research Centre under the theme of ‘from field to kitchen’.
This scheme would be further expanded by making available the handicraft items which can be used at home and for gifts as well.
With the operation of the centre, small farmers’ compulsion to reach Manathali bazaar with their produce has ended.
The local farmers also believed that it would end the marketing of their agro products.
