Water-filled containers managed in Nepalgunj to save birds from heat
Nepalgunj, June 4: A campaign has been launched here to save birds from the scorching heat. Some youths here launched the campaign, citing that birds might suffer due to a lack of drinking water in the Nepalgunj area due to the extreme heat.

Mahesh Shrestha of Nepalgunj Gallery shared that an arrangement has been made to provide water to birds using waste plastic bottles. They have started providing drinking water to birds by preparing water containers from plastic bottles collected from roadsides.
Animal rights activist Subas Sahu and environment campaigner Hemant Raj Kafle are also part of the campaign. Stating that human beings should be sensitive to the lives of birds, animals, and insects during summer, Kafle opined that they are important to the ecosystem.
Protecting such creatures is a shared responsibility of all, as their role is very important for environmental conservation and maintaining biodiversity, added Kafle, stating that the campaign should be continued as mercury is rising.
Similarly, Shrestha underlined that an arrangement of drinking water has been managed by using waste plastic bottles at a time when birds have been affected by a lack of water during increasing heat. He added that a campaign to prepare water containers to provide drinking water to birds and animals would continue every Saturday.
A target has been set to install water containers hanging in trees from Surkhet Road to Ranjha Chowk. It is expected that the campaign launched in Nepalgunj would further strengthen co-existence between humans and nature amidst increasing mercury and the impact of climate change.
