Lumbini PA member suspended

Nepalgunj: CPN (UML) Banke on Tuesday suspended Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Durga Chaudhary from party’s membership for acting against the party’s discipline.

He was suspended as per Clause 81 of the party’s Statute after his clarification as per Clause 8 was deemed unsatisfactory, said Neerak Gurung, president of CPN (UML) Banke.

Gurung has mentioned that he was forced to take the action of suspension after Chaudhary continued with activities against party leaders and the party.

A member of the Provincial Assembly elected from Banke constituency No. 1 (2), Chaudhary had held the responsibility of Minister of Forest and Environment in the government led by Leela Giri.

A former Maoist army personnel, Chaudhary chose to remain with the UML after the split of CPN (Maoist Centre).

Meanwhile, Province Assembly member Chaudhary said that the suspension was not according to the law and added that he has not received any formal letter yet.
