Saudi Arabia marks 94th National Day in Kathmandu
Strong bilateral ties and development initiatives with Nepal highlighted
September 23, Kathmandu: The 94th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was celebrated in Kathmandu on Monday with a reception where Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav was the chief guest.
In his address, Saudi Ambassador to Nepal, Saad bin Abu Haimed, highlighted that Saudi Arabia had provided over USD 150 million through the Saudi Fund for the development of hydroelectricity, irrigation, and other projects in Nepal.
“Starting from 2023, 120 scholarships are being offered annually for Nepali students to study in Saudi Arabia. In addition, more than 400,000 Nepali migrant workers are currently employed in Saudi Arabia. The bilateral relationship between Nepal and Saudi Arabia has remained strong since its establishment in 1977,” said Ambassador Abu Haimed.
The Ambassador also spoke about Saudi Arabia’s significant achievements in infrastructure development, sustainable growth, and information technology under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
The event was attended by a diverse group of people, including politicians, former ministers, high-ranking government officials, security personnel, diplomats, business leaders, social workers, and journalists.
