US Ambassador Thompson inaugurates library in Bhaktapur
5,000 rare texts collected by American Professor Theodore Riccardi kept on display
September 17, Kathmandu: The US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R. Thompson inaugurated a library at Nepal Vocational Academy in Nagancha, Bhaktapur on Tuesday.
The library, supported by the US Embassy in Nepal, contains 5,000 texts collected by American Professor Dr Theodore Riccardi.
These texts cover Nepal’s arts, heritages, literature, architecture, and other research-based works, according to RSS.
Ambassador Thompson expressed that the library has further strengthened Nepal-US relations and emphasized the importance of ancient and vintage books housed in the library.
On the occasion, Professor Riccardi’s wife, Ellen, shared about the service and studies carried out by her husband in Nepal.
Theodore Riccardi Jr., also known as Ted Riccardi, served as the resident Director of the Fulbright Programme in Nepal from 1965-1968.
