Foreign Affairs Minister Khanal leaves for Fiji to attend climate event
Kathmandu: Foreign Affairs Minister Shishir Khanal has left for Fiji to attend the Pre-COPE Leaders’ Event on climate change.
A four-member Nepali delegation led by Foreign Affairs Minister Khanal will participate in the event being held on October 5 to 6.
The Foreign Ministry said Minister Khanal will address the Leaders’ Plenary on October 6. He will also join a media question-and-answer session with the President of Palau and the Prime Ministers of Australia and Fiji.
Nepal is expected to raise issues of climate change impacts, climate justice and the concerns of Himalayan countries at the event.
After Fiji and Tuvalu, Foreign Affairs Minister Khanal will travel to Australia, where he is scheduled to meet Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong on October 8.
They are expected to discuss Nepal-Australia relations, bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
Foreign Affairs Minister Khanal will also interact with the Nepali community in Canberra and Sydney. He is scheduled to return to Nepal on October 12.
