Nepali Congress holding 15th general convention from today
Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress is holding its 15th general convention at Khula Manch in Kathmandu from today.
The convention is now being inaugurated by party President Gagan Kumar Thapa. Senior Nepali Congress leaders and leaders of other major political parties are also scheduled to address the opening session.
According to the Central Election Committee, elections for the party’s new leadership and other positions have been scheduled for October 7 and 8.
More than 7 thousand representatives are expected to participate in the convention, which follows the party’s second special general convention held in January.
Nepali Congress spokesperson Devraj Chalise said, the party’s Central Working Committee will include members below 35, as well as representatives of democracy fighters, workers, professionals and Nepalis living abroad.
