Work procedure endorsed for parliamentary study on Bhotekoshi-Trishuli floods
Kathmandu: The Parliamentary Special Committee formed following the August 26 disaster has approved its working procedures.

The Committee was instituted in relation to the impact of climate change in the Himalayas, climate justice and the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli disasters. Committee member and House of Representatives Members Anushka Shrestha informed that the work procedures were passed during a meeting held on Thursday.
“With this, the scope of upcoming works has been clear. We need coordinating our efforts and utilize available resources to build upon the significant works already accomplished by government bodies. However, we’re for adequate space for independent studies and discussions in case of need,” she shared.
The Committee will study the broader impacts of climate change ranging from Himalayan communities to riverbank settlements. Lawmaker Ganesh Parajuli was unanimously elected chair of the 15-member HoR Special Committee on Thursday.
Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected chair Parajuli the same day. The HoR had formed the Committee on September 21.
The members of the Committee are- Achyutam Lamichhane, Anushka Shrestha, Ganga Devi Shrestha, Dhrub Raj Rai, Dhananjay Regmi, Nisha Dangi, Pushparaj Kandel, Mohan Acharya, Ramesh Kumar Malla, Mingma Gyabu Sherpa, Rabindra Patel, Saraswati Lama, Sujata Tamang and Sita Thapaliya.
The parliamentary panel will also recommend measures for government to forward rehabilitation of the affected people, sustainable reconstruction, risk mitigation, legal and institutional reforms and climate justice.
