20th Asian Games: Nepal posts victory in women’s kabaddi

Kathmandu: Nepal has registered a win in women’s Kabaddi at the 20th Asian Games taking place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Nepal defeated Thailand.

In Group ‘B’, Nepal beat Thailand 46–43 in their first match held today at Tokai Citizen Gymnasium in Japan.

Nepal had a weak performance in the first half and was trailing 15–24. Later, Nepal made a comeback in the second half, scoring 31 points while Thailand was limited to 19 points.

Sri Lanka and Chinese Taipei are also in Group ‘B’ along with Nepal and Thailand. Women’s team coach Parbati Rai shared that Nepal will play against Chinese Taipei in their second group stage match set for Wednesday.

The top two teams from the four-team Group ‘B’ will advance to the semi-finals. Similarly, Group ‘A’ consists of India, Bangladesh, Japan, and Iran.

It may be noted that earlier, at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, in 2023, Nepal won a bronze medal in women’s Kabaddi. RSS
