Foundation stone laid for ‘Gen-Z Martyrs Memorial Park with Statue and Pillar’

Kathmandu: The foundation stone for the ‘Gen-Z Martyrs Memorial Park with Statue and Pillar’ has been laid on the premises of the Federal Parliament building at Singhadurbar, Kathmandu.

Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, Infrastructure Minister Sunil Lamsal, and senior-member of the Gen-Z Martyr Family Welfare Society, Basudev Joshi, jointly laid the foundation stone for the structure.

On the occasion, Home Minister Gurung shared the government’s efforts to address the demands of the Gen-Z. “We will fulfill the promises we have made,” he said.

Last year, the Gen-Z movement took place on September 8 (Bhadra 23). It may be noted that due to the movement the then government was dissolved, and a caretaker government was formed under former Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

After election to the members of House of Representatives on 5 March 2026, the current government was formed. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on September 3 decided to declare a public holiday across Nepal on September 8 to mark the Gen-Z Martyrs’ Day.
