Bhotekoshi flood: Local levels in Kavrepalanchowk pledge Rs 11 million in aid

Kavrepalanchok: Seven local levels in Kavrepalanchok district, which has also borne the brunt of the recent Bhotekoshi flood, have pledged financial assistance for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of people affected by the August 26 devastating flood.

Various wards, social organizations, cooperatives, and private institutions in the district have also expressed their commitment to providing financial support to flood victims.

Towards this, Dhulikhel Municipality has decided to provide Rs 1 million for rescue and relief efforts.
Acting Mayor Nirajan Jangam said the municipal executive meeting decided to extend support for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of those affected by the catastrophic disaster that caused a massive loss of lives and property.

According to him, four people from Dhulikhel Municipality remain missing following the Bhotekoshi flood.

The Municipality will coordinate with concerned agencies and provide necessary assistance for the search and rescue of those missing.

Likewise, Bethanchok rural municipality has decided to provide Rs 3.5 million to support rescue and relief efforts.

Rural municipality Chairperson Bhagwan Adhikari told Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) that Rs 1.5 million would be contributed from the local disaster management fund, while Rs 2 million would come from the allowances and salaries of elected representatives, teachers and employees.

Similarly, Panauti Municipality has pledged Rs 3 million, while Panchkhal Municipality will provide Rs 1 million.

Also, Banepa Municipality, Roshi Rural Municipality, and Chaurideurali Rural Municipality have each pledged Rs 1 million for post-disaster search and rescue efforts, relief distribution, and rehabilitation operations.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress Kavrepalanchok district chapter has provided Rs 1.7 million through its central committee. Several cooperatives and private organizations have also pledged additional support.
According to the District Administration Office, Kavrepalanchowk, 52 people across the district were initially reported missing.

Some have since been traced, while the bodies of others have been recovered. The number of people still missing currently stands at 41. RSS
