Rescue of workers trapped in Upper Trishuli-3 ‘B’ tunnel continues

Nuwakot: The Nepal government is continuing efforts to rescue workers trapped inside the tunnel of the Upper Trishuli-3 ‘B’ Hydropower Project in Nuwakot, which was affected by the recent floods.

A special mechanism has been mobilised for the safe rescue of the workers.

A team of six Chinese technical experts has also been deployed with the approval of the Nepal government to assist in the highly risky and technically complex rescue operation.

The Chinese experts arrived in the Trishuli area by helicopter and have begun working with the Nepali Army’s expert rescue team.

The joint team will conduct a technical assessment of the conditions inside the tunnel and determine the possibility of carrying out the rescue.

If the initial assessment indicates that the rescue operation is feasible, additional Chinese experts currently on standby on the Chinese side of the Rasuwa border will be brought to the site immediately.

Despite the extremely challenging conditions inside the tunnel, the government, the Nepali Army and Chinese technical experts are making every effort to safely rescue the trapped workers.
