On Air Station:

Heavy rainfall likely in several parts of Nepal amid active monsoon

Kathmandu, Aug 23: Monsoon activity has remained active across Nepal, with the Meteorological Forecasting Division forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in several parts of the country.

According to the Division, a low-pressure system is currently influencing Nepal’s weather. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers have been reported in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, with some areas of Gandaki also experiencing rainfall.

The weather system is expected to bring further rain to different parts of the country, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in some hilly areas.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has warned of an increased risk of monsoon-related incidents, including landslides, floods and soil erosion, particularly in areas receiving heavy rainfall.

The adverse weather could also affect transportation, other daily activities, agriculture, health services, and tourism.

The Division has urged the public, particularly those living in vulnerable areas, to remain alert, follow weather updates and take necessary precautions to minimise the risks associated with heavy rainfall.
