Chief Minister Shah seeking vote of confidence today
Sudurpaschim: Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah is seeking a vote of confidence from the Province Assembly today.
According to Tara Kumari Joshi, Information Officer at the Province Assembly Secretariat, Chief Minister Shah is scheduled to seek the vote during today’s meeting of the provincial legislature.
Shah is seeking the vote after the CPN (UML), a coalition partner in the provincial government, withdrew its support on July 15.
Under the constitutional provision, a chief minister must secure a vote of confidence or resign within 30 days of a coalition partner withdrawing its support.
The 53-member Sudurpaschim Province Assembly has 18 lawmakers from the Nepali Congress, 22 from the Nepali Communist Party, including the Speaker, 11 from the CPN (UML), and one from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
