NA lawmakers urge government to address LPG shortage

Kathmandu: National Assembly lawmakers have urged the government to take immediate steps to address the shortage of cooking gas and make its import, sales and distribution more organised and transparent.

Speaking during the zero hour of the National Assembly meeting today, lawmakers said people are facing difficulties in obtaining LPG despite government claims that gas imports from India are sufficient to meet demand.

They called on the government to provide clear information on gas supply and distribution and take measures to end the artificial shortage.

Lawmakers also raised concerns over inflation, public service delivery, health services and the long-term management of problems faced by landless people and squatters.

They further urged the government to take action over incidents of arson and vandalism during recent protests and called for a judicial investigation into a dispute between two communities in Dewanganj, Sunsari.
