Monsoon Remains Active Across Nepal, Heavy Rain Forecast in Several Provinces

Kathmandu, Aug. 10: Monsoon activity remains active across Nepal, with a low-pressure system continuing to influence the country’s weather, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

The Himalayan and hilly areas of several provinces are experiencing generally cloudy conditions, while light to moderate rainfall is occurring at various locations, particularly in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The Division has forecast generally cloudy weather across the country, with light to moderate rain and snowfall, along with thunder and lightning, possible in parts of the Himalayan region. Moderate rainfall is also expected in many hilly areas.

Rainfall is likely in parts of the Terai, including Koshi, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim, as well as some areas of Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Heavy rainfall is forecast at some places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki, the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim, and the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini Province.

The weather office has warned that heavy rainfall could trigger floods, landslides and erosion. It has urged people in vulnerable areas to remain alert, as adverse weather could affect daily activities, agriculture, health services, tourism and transportation.
