Monsoon Remains Active Across Nepal, Heavy Rain Forecast in Several Areas

Kathmandu, Aug 9: The monsoon remains active across Nepal, with a low-pressure area located around its average position, resulting in generally cloudy weather throughout the country.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, light to moderate rainfall is currently occurring in several parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, Koshi, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.

The weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy across the country today, with chances of moderate rainfall and snowfall in mountainous areas. Moderate rain is also likely in the hilly regions and some parts of the Terai in Lumbini, Sudurpashchim, Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

The department has forecast heavy rainfall at some places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the hilly and Terai regions of Lumbini and Karnali.

Similar weather conditions are expected tonight, with generally cloudy skies and chances of rain and snowfall in the mountainous areas.

The department has particularly warned of heavy rainfall in some areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Sudurpashchim provinces and the hilly areas of Bagmati.

Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert, citing the possibility of landslides, floods and soil erosion due to heavy rainfall.
