Cabinet approves compensation for Sunsari-Siraha protest victims

Kathmandu: The government has decided to provide compensation, relief and medical treatment to those killed and injured during the recent protests in Sunsari and Siraha.

The decision was taken at today’s Cabinet meeting, according to the Prime Minister’s Press and Research Expert, Deepa Dahal.

The Cabinet also appointed Khadga Bahadur KC as Chairperson of the University Grants Commission and Rosie Shrestha as a member-secretary of the commission.

The meeting approved the Statistics (First Amendment) Regulations, 2083, and decided to dissolve the Nepal Intermodal Transport Development Committee by merging it with the Nepal Transport and Warehouse Management Company Limited.

The Cabinet also decided to implement the Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act, 2055, in phases across the country and endorsed the Children’s (First Amendment) Bill, 2083, for submission to the Federal Parliament.
