Prohibitory Order Lifted in Birgunj as Situation Returns to Normal

Birgunj, Aug. 2: The District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa, has lifted the prohibitory order that had been in force in Birgunj since July 30, citing an improvement in the security situation.

The restriction, which was imposed daily from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., was withdrawn on Saturday evening after authorities concluded that normalcy had largely returned to the city. Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal said the decision was taken following an assessment of the current situation.

The development comes after an eight-point agreement was reached between the government and the families of those affected by the Golbazar incident in Siraha. Following the agreement, the Hindu Society and other Hindu organizations that had been staging protests in Birgunj have temporarily suspended their protest programmes.

With the restrictions removed, daily life in Birgunj has started returning to normal. Markets have reopened, industrial activities have resumed, and transportation services are operating again in the city and surrounding areas.
