DCSCP urges not to sell and distribute prohibited items

Kathmandu: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection (DCSCP) has warned all concerned parties to immediately stop the sale and distribution, through physical and digital channels, of goods banned by the Government of Nepal, following complaints about such activities.

The Department has issued a notification today that, according to the Export (Control) Act, 2013 BS, the Government of Nepal has drawn the serious attention of the Department to the issue of the sale and distribution in the market of items subject to full or quantitative restrictions on export or import in accordance with the Nepal Gazette at various times.

According to the information, the government had made arrangements related to restrictions and controls on the export and import of certain items through the Nepal Gazette on various dates, including 2 Asar, 2076 and Chait 24, 2076.

The department has mentioned that unauthorised importation, storage and sale-distribution of prohibited goods is punishable according to law and has requested all importers, hoarders and sellers to conduct business in full compliance with the obligations, conditions and restrictions prescribed by law.

According to the department, action will be taken in accordance with the Export and Import (Control) Act, 2013, Consumer Protection Act, 2075 and other prevailing laws if it is found that prohibited items are traded against the law.
