Kathmandu, July 26: The Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast heavy rainfall in parts of Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces on Saturday, warning of possible landslides and disruptions to daily life.

According to the Division, the monsoon system remains active across the country, with the monsoon trough lying close to its normal position. While the Terai of Koshi Province is expected to witness partly clear skies, weather conditions will remain generally cloudy elsewhere.

Moderate rainfall is currently occurring in several areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Karnali provinces, along with isolated places in Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.

The forecast indicates moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in many hilly and Himalayan areas, with showers also likely in parts of the Terai of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.

Meteorologists have warned that heavy rainfall is possible at a few locations in the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces, increasing the risk of landslides, flash floods and other weather-related hazards.

Similar weather conditions are expected to continue through the night.

The Division has urged the public to remain alert, saying heavy rain could affect road transportation, agriculture, tourism, health services and other daily activities, particularly in vulnerable areas.
