First Monday of Shrawan Draws Thousands of Devotees to Pashupatinath and Shiva Temples

Kathmandu, July 20: Thousands of devotees thronged the Pashupatinath Temple and other Lord Shiva temples across Nepal from the early hours of Monday to mark the first Monday of the holy month of Shrawan.

Devotees observed the auspicious occasion by offering special prayers, performing rituals and seeking blessings of Lord Shiva at major temples nationwide.

According to the Pashupati Area Development Trust, special arrangements have been made to facilitate smooth worship for devotees and Bol Bum pilgrims visiting the temple. Security personnel, volunteers, health camps, drinking water facilities and other essential services have been deployed to manage the large crowds.

Apart from Pashupatinath, worshippers also gathered at major Shiva shrines, including Gokarneshwor Temple, Santaneshwor Mahadev Temple, Doleshwor Mahadev Temple, Kirateshwar Mahadev Temple, Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple, Sanga Mahadev, Devghat and Galeshwor Mahadev Temple, where devotees took holy dips and offered prayers from early morning.

The month of Shrawan is regarded as one of the holiest periods in the Hindu calendar, with Mondays holding special religious significance for the worship of Lord Shiva.
