Monsoon Active Across Nepal, Rainfall Likely in Many Areas
Kathmandu, July 20: Monsoon conditions remain active across Nepal, with the Meteorological Forecasting Division forecasting widespread rainfall and thunderstorms in many parts of the country today and tonight.
The Division said monsoon winds continue to influence the country’s weather, while the monsoon trough is currently situated north of its average position.
At present, the weather is mostly cloudy nationwide. Moderate rainfall is occurring in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini and Karnali provinces, as well as at a few locations in Sudurpashchim Province.
For today, the Division has forecast generally cloudy conditions across the country. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is likely at many places in the hilly regions, while some mountainous areas may receive rainfall and snowfall.
Similar weather is expected tonight, with generally cloudy skies prevailing nationwide. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at many places in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, and at some places in the hilly areas of Karnali Province. Rainfall and snowfall are also expected in parts of the mountainous region.
The weather office has also warned of the possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two locations in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, urging people in vulnerable areas to remain alert.
