Finance Minister for aligning development aid with national priorities

Kathmandu: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle has expressed the government’s intent to advance the development collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in line with the changing national priorities and needs.

At a programme organised on Wednesday to mark the 60th anniversary of the commencement of Nepal and UNDP collaboration, the finance minister lauded the UNDP’s contribution to poverty alleviation, inequality reduction, sustainable development and sectors such as health and education.

“UNDP’s contributions to alleviate poverty, minimise inequality, push sustainable development, and improve health and education sectors are significant”, Finance Minister Wagle said, adding, “I wish the sixty-year collaboration would continue up to the century”.

The development collaboration under the umbrella of the UN has not been limited to investment amount but has remained a strong medium of inter-country collaboration and coordination, the finance minister added.

He also took this opportunity to appreciate the UNDP’s contributions to the critical areas such as ecological preservation, democratic consolidation, youth empowerment and digital transformation.

Also on the occasion, Finance Minister Wagle made public a photo book ’60 Years of Collaboration’ compiling the details of the works UNDP undertook for three decades in Nepal.
