Ministry Chaudhary pledges to address concerns of farmers
Kathmandu: Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment, Geeta Chaudhary, held discussions with representatives of farmers, who staged a demonstration by throwing lowly priced tomatoes onto the street. In the meeting held on Wednesday at the Minister’s office, she listened to farmers’ grievances, concerns and demands.

As she said, the government has intensified market monitoring so that farmers can get appropriate prices for their produce.
Urging farmers to supply their produce to the nearby local markets, she said there was no situation henceforth for farmers to supply their produce in the Kalimati Fruits and Vegetables Market.
“We have realised farmers’ issues and sufferings. Agitation is not always a solution. We are working so that farmers could have access to chemical fertilizers in a smooth way,” the Minister said, pledging to address their concerns in coordination with the respective bodies.
Stating that promoting the interests of farmers is a priority of the government, the Minister said regular dialogue, collaboration and coordination with farmers would be prioritised to enhance production, improve market management, ensure price fixation, and address issues in the agricultural sector.
