Kathmandu: The National Assembly will next meet on July 31. Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal informed this in the upper house meeting today.

Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam, on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, presented the annual report of the Office of the Attorney General for the fiscal year 2081/82 in the meeting before that.
In the meeting, Chairman Dahal informed about the letter received from the President’s office regarding the certification of some bills.
Earlier, speaking in the ‘special hour’ of the Assembly meeting, Kamala Pant emphasised disaster preparedness and good governance. She said that the government should prioritise increasing agricultural production, good governance, disaster management, workers’ rights, and controlling inflation.
MP Pant said that the purpose of the code of conduct or the policy of integrity approved by the cabinet is to control corruption, reduce ethical deviations, and maintain good governance, emphasising that the policy should be implemented effectively.
She also emphasised that timely early warning should be provided with a clear identification of disaster risk-prone areas and highways, and stressed that the government should quickly approve Nepal’s strategic plan related to ‘Early Warning for All’.
Similarly, lawmakers have drawn the government’s attention to issues like protecting press freedom, ensuring the timely availability of chemical fertilisers to farmers, health insurance, and the drinking water problem in the Terai.
They also mentioned that there isn’t enough budget allocated for the youth and employment sectors, stressing that the government should be more accountable to the people.
