Lamjung Suspends Night-Time Traffic on Besisahar-Chame Road, Mid-Hill Highway Amid Heavy Rain Forecast

Lamjung, June 30: The Lamjung District Administration has imposed a night-time ban on vehicular movement along the Besisahar-Chame Road and a section of the Mid-Hill Highway for at least two weeks, effective from Tuesday, citing increased risks from monsoon-related disasters.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the District Security Committee on Monday as a precautionary measure following forecasts of heavy rainfall that could trigger landslides and floods.

According to Assistant Chief District Officer Thamman Singh Gautam, the Besisahar-Chame Road will remain closed to vehicles daily from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, while traffic on the Mid-Hill Highway section will be suspended from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am.

The administration said only essential vehicles will be permitted to operate during the restricted hours. It also apologized to the public for the inconvenience caused by the temporary traffic restrictions.

The Besisahar-Chame Road is a key transport route that connects local communities and supports economic activities in the region.
