Traffic Police Collect Over Rs 1.72 Million in Fines Across Kathmandu Valley in 24 Hours

Kathmandu, June 24 — Traffic police have collected more than Rs 1.72 million in fines after taking action against 2,550 vehicles for violating traffic regulations across the Kathmandu Valley within the last 24 hours.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, a wide range of traffic offences were recorded during the period.

Among the violations, 102 drivers were booked for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 142 cases involved unauthorized ride-sharing activities. Traffic police also penalized 140 motorists for violating traffic signals and 207 for exceeding speed limits.

In addition, 56 drivers were found breaching lane discipline rules, and 108 were fined for unnecessary honking in designated no-horn zones.

The enforcement campaign also targeted environmental and vehicle safety violations. Authorities took action against 14 vehicles for emitting excessive smoke beyond permitted standards, while 35 vehicles were found operating without undergoing the required technical inspections.

The Traffic Police Office said another 1,746 drivers and riders faced penalties for various other traffic-related offences.

Officials stated that regular monitoring and enforcement measures are being continued across the Valley to promote road safety, improve traffic discipline, and reduce accidents.
