Banke Police Register 205 Crime Cases in One Month
Nepalgunj, May 19: The District Police Office, Banke, recorded 205 criminal cases during the Nepali month of Baisakh (April 14 to May 14), according to a progress report made public on Monday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Patali said the cases included 10 heinous crimes and 61 serious criminal offences.
Police also arrested 11 people in connection with crimes against women, children and senior citizens. Similarly, 34 cases related to financial crimes were registered during the period.
According to DSP Patali, a total of 187 accused were arrested in different cases over the past month. Police also intensified investigations into 19 cases related to public interest, while a money laundering case was also filed during the same period.
As part of the implementation of court verdicts, police arrested 76 absconding individuals. The convicts are yet to serve more than 10 years of cumulative imprisonment, while pending fines and compensation amount to over Rs 4.7 million.
Meanwhile, 20 road accidents were reported in the district during the month. Four people lost their lives, and 18 others were injured in the incidents. Police said most accidents were caused by reckless driving, while one driver was found driving under the influence of alcohol.
Under the traffic monitoring campaign, action was taken against 2,078 drivers for violating traffic rules. The campaign generated more than Rs 1.8 million in revenue through fines.
The District Police Office also reported 74 cases of domestic violence during the month, of which 54 were resolved through reconciliation.
