Forest technicians call for stronger action against forest encroachment
Arghakhanchi, May 8: The Nepal Forest Technicians’ Association in Lumbini Province has stressed the need for stronger efforts to control the increasing encroachment of forest areas.
Issuing a statement, Association President Keshar Khadka said incidents of forest encroachment have been rising in several districts, making it necessary to intensify coordinated action involving government bodies, local authorities, security agencies, community forest user groups, and the public.
The association has urged those occupying forest land illegally to vacate such areas and support conservation efforts. It warned that encroachment contributes to deforestation and threatens environmental balance.
The statement also highlighted the importance of protecting biodiversity, wildlife habitat, and natural resources, noting that citizens are guaranteed the right to a clean and healthy environment under the constitution.
The association called for collective efforts from all stakeholders, including government and local communities, to ensure effective forest protection and the successful implementation of anti-encroachment campaigns.
