U.S. envoy Gor holds high-level talks in Nepal on economic cooperation

Kathmandu: U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor has urged Nepal to accelerate reforms to improve its investment climate, as he held high-level talks with key ministers during his visit.

Gor, who is in Nepal from April 30 to May 2, met Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle. Discussions focused on boosting foreign investment, strengthening economic ties, and advancing shared prosperity.

The U.S. envoy welcomed Nepal’s continued implementation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Compact, particularly projects related to electricity transmission and road infrastructure.

Reaffirming Washington’s longstanding partnership with Kathmandu, Gor encouraged sustained efforts to create a more business-friendly environment to support long-term economic growth.
