Cycle for Peace team reaches Lumbini to mark Buddha Jayanti

Kathmandu, May 2: A team participating in the “Cycle for Peace” campaign reached Lumbini on Friday, marking a key moment in their journey on the occasion of the 2570th Buddha Jayanti.

The initiative, jointly organized by Himalayan Friendship Organization and Universal Peace Sanctuary, began in Kathmandu with a message of global peace and human well-being. The cyclists arrived in Lumbini on the fourth day of their journey, having traveled from Bhairahawa.

Upon arrival, the team visited the sacred Maya Devi Temple and nearby monasteries, where they offered prayers and spent time in meditation. They also cycled around the Lumbini area as part of their symbolic peace journey.

Coordinator Devendra Basnyat said the team combined cycling with reflection and spiritual practice during their stay.

The group also held a lamp-lighting ceremony on Friday evening, praying for world peace. Preparations were underway for the launch of “The Path to Complete Liberation” by Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche.

The team is returning to Kathmandu today, bringing to a close a journey dedicated to peace, harmony, and shared human values.
