Rasuwa Customs collects Rs 6.42 billion revenue in nine months
Dhunche, April 27: The Rasuwagadhi Customs Office has collected Rs 6.42 billion in revenue over the first nine months of the current fiscal year, according to officials. During the same period, goods worth Rs 31.3 billion were imported through the Rasuwagadhi border point, a key trade route between Nepal and China.
Chief Customs Officer Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai said trade continues despite difficult terrain and natural challenges in the border area. The customs point remains an important gateway for Nepal-China commerce.
Major imports through the border include ready-made garments, roll cloth, electric vehicles, construction materials for hydropower and infrastructure projects, industrial raw materials, machinery parts, and equipment for the Fast Track project being developed by the Nepal Army. Food items such as apples, garlic, milling equipment, and other edible goods are also imported in significant quantity.
On the export side, Nepal sent goods worth around Rs 6.5 million to China during the review period. Export items include handicrafts, traditional Nepali clothing, bamboo products, packed dry grass used in Tibet, rice, and biscuits. Officials noted that demand for Nepali products is gradually increasing in the Chinese market, despite limited production capacity.
Trade through the border had been disrupted after the Miteri Bridge was damaged by floods in the Lhendekhola area on July 8, 2025. Regular import-export operations resumed only on December 2, 2025, following the completion of reconstruction work.
