Rain, snowfall likely in parts of country

Kathmandu, April 26: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast rain and snowfall in several parts of the country due to the partial influence of westerly and local winds.

The weather is currently generally cloudy in hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province, Madhesh Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Lumbini Province, while the Tarai region of Sudurpashchim Province remains mostly clear.

Moderate rainfall along with snowfall has been reported in some areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, and at a few places in Bagmati Province.

This afternoon, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and in the hilly and mountainous regions, while other areas will see partly cloudy conditions. There are chances of moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in some places of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few locations in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, including Madhesh.

Light rain is also likely at one or two places in the Tarai region of Lumbini Province. Meanwhile, temperatures are expected to rise gradually in the Tarai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy in hilly and mountainous regions and partly cloudy in the Tarai. Light rain and snowfall are likely in some hilly areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as parts of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The Department has indicated a gradual rise in temperature across much of the country, particularly in the Tarai, valleys and basins of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim, and has urged the public to remain cautious.
