Nepal-Bangladesh economic cooperation in focus at Rangpur programme

Kathmandu, April 25: The Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka organized a programme in Rangpur on “Nepal-Bangladesh Relations: Advancing Economic Cooperation” on Friday, highlighting opportunities to deepen economic engagement between the two countries.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari underscored the potential for expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, transit, energy, connectivity, education, and tourism. He stressed that stronger business-to-business linkages would be key to building a more robust and sustainable economic partnership.

The Ambassador also commended the Rangpur business community for its role in promoting private sector engagement between Nepal and Bangladesh.

First Secretary Yojana Bamjan delivered a presentation outlining major areas of economic cooperation, with particular focus on trade, transit and connectivity, energy, and tourism. She highlighted progress made in these sectors and pointed to prospects for further collaboration.

The presentation was followed by an interactive session, where participants discussed ways to further advance bilateral economic ties.

Additional District Magistrate Christopher Himal Ritchil, President of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md. Ghulam Zakaria, Acting President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Manjur Ahmed, and President of Rangpur Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shahanaz Parvin Shahin also spoke at the programme, emphasizing the need to strengthen linkages between the business communities of the two countries.

The event was attended by representatives of various chambers of commerce and industry, business leaders, tourism entrepreneurs, and media persons based in Rangpur.
