Bagmati Province collects Rs 27.93 billion revenue in nine months

Bagmati, April 18: The Bagmati Province Government has collected Rs 27.93 billion in public revenue in the first nine months of the current fiscal year, achieving 41.40 percent of its annual target.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Planning Development, the province had set a target of Rs 30.89 billion for the period from Shrawan (mid-July 2025) to Chaitra (mid-April 2026). However, only Rs 17.01 billion, or 55.07 percent of the target for this period, has been mobilised so far, said ministry officer Indraraj Sanjyal.

House and land registration fees and vehicle tax remain the main sources of revenue for the provincial government. Under land revenue, the target for the current fiscal year was Rs 7.70 billion, but collections have reached only Rs 3.52 billion in nine months.

Similarly, the government had projected Rs 8.25 billion from vehicle-related taxes, including vehicle inspection passes, route permits, and driving licence issuance and renewal. So far, Rs 5.06 billion has been collected under this heading.

Officials say the gap between targets and actual collection highlights ongoing challenges in meeting revenue goals, despite steady contributions from key sectors such as land registration and transport-related taxes.
