Bisket Jatra being celebrated in Portugal
Lisbon (Portugal): The Newar community in Portugal is going to celebrate the Bisket (Biska) Jatra. Organised by the Newar Society Portugal, the Newar community here in the capital, Lisbon, will celebrate the Bisket Jatra on April 15.
The Bisket Jatra is being celebrated with the objective of preserving and promoting Newari customs, language, art and religious culture, including exchanging greetings for the New Year 2083, shared the Society’s president, Amrit Ratna Shakya.
Special worship of Bhairav will be performed according to the Newari religion, culture and tradition. The event is expected to further strengthen cooperation, harmony and brotherhood among the Newar community in Portugal.
Cultural performances reflecting Newar art and culture, including Lakhe dance, Dhime baja, and bansuri dhun, will be presented on the occasion.
The society has specially urged the Newar community in Portugal to participate in the program to be held at the hall of the Grill and Chill restaurant in Arroios, Lisbon.
