Minister Timilsina Calls for Immediate Reform Plans in ICT Sector

Kathmandu, March 30 — Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr Bikram Timilsina has directed agencies under his ministry to prepare immediate and long-term reform plans aimed at improving public service delivery.

During on-site inspections of the Department of Postal Services, the Department of Information Technology, and the Advertisement Board on Monday, the minister instructed officials to submit within a week a list of areas requiring urgent improvement along with strategic plans for sustainable, result-oriented reforms.

Emphasizing the government’s commitment to meeting public expectations, Minister Timilsina said service delivery must become more efficient and effective through improved working styles across public offices. He noted that the country is progressing in line with citizens’ aspirations for change and stressed the need for a renewed sense of urgency.

“The country needs to move ahead with a new pace and momentum,” he said, urging officials to work collectively to fulfil public expectations. He also highlighted the importance of adopting innovative thinking to enhance the effectiveness of public services.

The minister further called for an end to delays caused by inefficiency, procrastination, and excuses related to limited resources. Encouraging staff to work with renewed energy, he underscored the importance of timely and accountable service delivery.

On the occasion, heads of the three agencies expressed their commitment to accelerating their work in alignment with the government’s recently introduced 100-point roadmap for effective governance.
