While acquiring information on the works of the ministry today, he urged the Ministry of Communications, being the government’s face and directly concerned with the citizens, to carry out people-oriented works that bring immediate results and benefit to the public.

“A new political scenario has emerged in the country. The election has given us an unprecedented mandate. Public expectations are also high. Therefore, the government has a responsibility to work in a way that the people can immediately feel,” Communications Minister Dr Timilsina said on the occasion. He emphasised that the ministry staff should provide smooth, quick and efficient services by keeping the people at the centre according to the newly formed government’s sentiment.

“The service delivery must be prompt and effective. No controversies should arise. We must resolve issues before the service recipients even perceive them. Everyone must contribute to advancing the country along the path it seeks, respecting public sentiment,” said Minister Dr Timilsina.

He urged senior officials to come up with immediate reforms and long-term plans that the ministry needs to undertake, emphasising that the Ministry of Communications should work to be established as a model ministry.

Communications Minister Timilsina stressed the need to work swiftly with an action plan to eliminate the ‘digital divide’. He instructed that laws that need immediate reform or drafting should be presented quickly, and an action plan should be prepared for work that can provide relief to the people and convey a positive message.

He said, “Let us work proactively from our respective levels, and it is necessary to work within the time expected by the people.”

On the occasion, all the heads of the divisions informed the Minister about the status, progress details, problems, and upcoming plans of their respective divisions.
