Supreme Court settles 42.82 percent cases in last fiscal year
Kathmandu, March 25: The Supreme Court (SC) has settled a total of 16,634 cases in the last fiscal year (2081/82).
There were a total of 40,741 recorded cases, including 25,728 cases, writs and applications/reports transferred from the previous fiscal year and 15,013 new cases registered in the last fiscal year.
Among the recorded ones, 40.82 per cent of cases were settled, the Supreme Court said.
According to the spokesperson at the apex court, Arjun Prasad Koirala, 6.69 per cent more cases were settled at the Supreme Court last year in comparison to the previous year.
Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut submitted the SC’s annual report of the fiscal year 2081/82 before President Ramchandra Paudel on Wednesday.
The report stated that 73.67 per cent of 83, 410 cases recorded at the High Courts, including those transferred from the previous fiscal year and those registered in the fiscal year 2081/82, were cleared.
The clearance during the reporting period was 8.85 per cent higher than the previous year, the report disclosed.
In terms of cases settled at district courts, the percentage is 62.10 per cent out of 268,044 cases registered, the report stated. It was 8.90 per cent higher than that of the previous year. RSS
