CZOP urges govt to keep intact ministry of women and children
Kathmandu: The Children as Zone of Peace (CZOP)-National Campaign has urged the upcoming government not to merge the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens with others while reducing the number of ministries.

A press release issued by CZOP Chairperson Tilottam Poudel on Thursday reminded that the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens is a sensitive one, so splitting or merging it with other ministries would have long-term adverse effects.
Children account for around 33.84 per cent of the total population in the country.
The act of merging this ministry with other ministries or making it weak would have serious impacts on the protection of child rights and promotion of children as a pillar of the future, the press statement underlined.
