UN General Assembly Adopts Nepal-Proposed Resolution on International Wellness Day
Kathmandu, March 11 — The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution proposed by Nepal declaring April 15 as the International Wellness Day to be observed annually.
According to Lok Bahadur Thapa, Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, the resolution highlights that health is not limited to the absence of disease but includes physical, mental, social, cultural, emotional, and ecological well-being.
The resolution also emphasises the importance of preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles, and inclusive health systems as key factors in building stronger and more resilient societies around the world.
Ambassador Thapa expressed Nepal’s gratitude to the countries that co-sponsored the proposal and to other UN member states for their support and cooperation in adopting the resolution.
