Voting Begins Nationwide for House of Representatives Elections

Kathmandu, March 5 – Voting for the House of Representatives (HoR) elections has begun across the country today, with polling stations opening at 7:00 a.m.

Officiating Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari confirmed that the voting process started as scheduled and is being conducted from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in a single phase throughout the country.

Polling is taking place in all 77 districts of Nepal, with voters participating to elect members of the federal parliament.

According to the Election Commission Nepal, a total of 65 political parties are contesting the election using 61 electoral symbols.

Under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system, 3,406 candidates are in the race, including 3,017 men, 388 women, and one candidate from the other category.

Similarly, under the proportional representation (PR) system, 3,135 candidates are contesting the election, comprising 1,363 male and 1,772 female candidates.
