On Air Station:

Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei killed in US-Israeli air strikes

Iran: Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in his office on Saturday morning during US and Israeli air strikes, according to Iranian state media.

According to the BBC, US President Donald Trump described Khamenei as “one of the most evil people in history” and urged Iranians to “take back their country.”

Reports from Iran say there are mixed reactions. Celebrations have been seen in several cities, while others have gathered in the streets to mourn.

The Iranian Red Crescent says more than 200 people have been killed across the country. Iranian authorities say at least 108 of them died when strikes hit a girls’ school.

Sources told CBS, the US partner of the BBC, that around 40 Iranian officials are dead. Israel says it has killed several senior figures, including the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Guard has warned it will launch what it calls a “devastating offensive operation” against US bases and Israel.

Earlier, Iranian retaliatory strikes were reported in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait, locations that host US military bases or are allied with the United States.

Analysts say the killing marks a major turning point in Iran’s recent history.
