Home Minister, UN Resident Coordinator discuss governance and security cooperation
Kathmandu, Feb 23: The United Nations Resident Coordinator in Nepal, Lila Pieters Yahia, paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Sunday.
During the meeting at the Home Ministry, Minister Aryal thanked the UN for its continued support in Nepal’s governance reforms, climate change initiatives, and capacity-building efforts at the local level.
He expressed confidence that cooperation with the UN would further strengthen in the coming days. The minister said the government has accelerated efforts to institutionalize democracy, including holding elections to the House of Representatives on March 5 in a free and fair manner.
Similarly, UN Resident Coordinator Yahia discussed expanding cooperation in areas such as drug control, border security, and combating human trafficking. She pledged continued collaboration with the Government of Nepal.
