PM Karki Briefed on Ongoing Constitutional Review Studies
Kathmandu, Feb 9 — The Nepal Law Commission has briefed Prime Minister Sushila Karki on the progress of ongoing studies related to the review of the Constitution of Nepal.
A delegation led by Commission Vice-Chairperson Laxmi Prasad Mainali and Secretary Indira Dahal (Bhattarai) met the Prime Minister on Monday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and informed her about the key areas under review.
During the meeting, Secretary Dahal said the Commission has launched the study process in line with the constitutional provision that mandates a review of the constitution every 10 years. To carry out the task, a study committee has been formed under the coordination of Vice-Chairperson Mainali.
On the occasion, the Commission team also presented a legal dictionary to Prime Minister Karki.
Established in 2010 following the recommendations of the Buch Commission (2009), the Nepal Law Commission is among the country’s longstanding public institutions. The Commission is responsible for the translation, codification, amendment, integration, and review of laws, as well as conducting studies and research on legal and justice-related issues.
