Compensation Finalised for Families Affected by Tanahun Hydropower Project

Tanahun, Feb 3: Compensation has been finalised for 10 households affected by the under-construction Tanahun Hydropower Project.

A meeting of the compensation determination committee, chaired by the Chief District Officer, approved compensation for families impacted at Lokpa, Dharapani, Dhoklak, Bulsalt and Jhaputar areas of Rishing Municipality.

In addition to residential impacts, residents will also receive compensation for damage to agricultural land and other losses resulting from the construction of transmission lines and related infrastructure.

The project is being implemented in three packages. Package-1 includes dam construction and associated structures, Package-2 covers the development of the main tunnel and powerhouse, while Package-3 involves the installation of the 220-kV Damauli–Bharatpur transmission line. The hydropower project has an installed capacity of 140 megawatts.
