Tiger Cup Volleyball: New Diamond and Nepal Police clash for the championship
Kaski: New Diamond Sports Club and Nepal Police Club are set to face off in the final of the 6th edition of the Tiger Cup National and International Invitational Club Championship Volleyball Tournament being held in Pokhara.
New Diamond Club made it to the final by defeating visitors, Thailand Queens in straight sets to book a place in the final.
In the second semi-final match held at the Multi-Purpose Covered Hall at Pokhara Stadium on Wednesday, New Diamond defeated Thailand in straight sets of 25-21, 25-23 and 25-20.
New Diamond reached the final while remaining undefeated.
With Thailand’s defeat, Nepal Police entered the final with seven points from four matches. Thailand obtained 6 points from four matches.
The final match of the women’s category of the championship is scheduled to be held between New Diamond and Nepal Police Club on coming Saturday.
Thailand Queens and Armed Police Force APF will compete for the third place to take place today.
A total of six teams are participating in the men’s and five teams in the women’s categories. The top two teams in the single round robin competition compete for the title.
The women’s and men’s champion teams will receive an equal cash prize of Rs. 666,666, a trophy and a medal. The runner-up will receive a cash prize of Rs. 366,666 and the third-place team will receive a cash prize of Rs. 166,666, said DB Nepali, secretary of the organizers, Tiger Group.
The best player of the competition will receive a cash prize of Rs. 26,666, while the best players in other categories, both men and women, will receive a cash prize of Rs. 11,666, along with a trophy and a certificate. RSS
