Knowledge and skills should be used in nation-building: PM Karki

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the knowledge and skills gained through education should be used for nation-building. She made the remark while addressing the first convocation ceremony of Nepal Open University held today.

At the ceremony, Prime Minister Karki awarded degrees to 545 students from the faculties of Science, Humanities, Education, Management, and Law. Of them, 191 graduates were present on the occasion. Prime Minister Karki, who is also the Chancellor of the University, also presented medals to top-scoring students at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

Addressing the graduates, Prime Minister Karki said Nepal Open University has played an important role in expanding access to affordable and quality higher education through open and distance learning. She said the university has established its academic identity in a short period and serves as an effective platform for students who cannot attend classes physically.

She expressed confidence that the university would help produce employment-oriented, research-based, and innovative human resources in the coming days.
